My history

Hello everyone, and welcome to my webpage!

I’m Susana F. Blanco, a Spanish artist now teaching Art & Design at RUW University in Bahrain.

With over 17 years of teaching experience, I hold an International PhD in Fine Arts from Complutense University of Madrid, a Master’s in Contemporary Art, and dual BAs in Art and Design from Spain and the UK.

My focus is on encaustic painting, which involves heated beeswax and pigments, a technique dating back to the Fayum portraits of ancient Egypt (100-300 AD). My PhD research explored the use of beeswax in art from the 20th century onward. Passionate about sustainability, I research eco-friendly materials and dream of creating a sustainable artist studio. I paint to convey profound emotions and love sharing knowledge through teaching and research.
